Affirming Queer Couples Therapy in Vancouver, WA

Arielle Fettman, MA, LMFT, is proud to provide affirming and compassionate queer couples therapy in Vancouver, Washington, through secure telehealth services. My work focuses primarily on supporting women in queer relationships who want to strengthen their connection, improve communication, and better understand the patterns that shape their relationship.

Every couple faces challenges from time to time, but having a supportive space to explore those challenges together can make a meaningful difference. As a counselor, I strive to create an environment where both partners feel heard, respected, and understood. Through counseling, I help couples develop deeper emotional awareness, build trust, and create healthier ways of relating to one another.

When Queer Couples Should Seek Therapy

There are many reasons couples seek queer couples therapy. Some partners find themselves stuck in recurring arguments, while others may feel disconnected despite wanting a closer relationship. Women in queer relationships may also navigate challenges related to identity, family acceptance, discrimination, or other external stressors that can impact their partnership.

Life transitions, differing communication styles, intimacy concerns, and unresolved past experiences can also create tension within a relationship. Seeking support doesn't mean a relationship is failing—it often reflects a commitment to growth, understanding, and strengthening the bond between partners. As a therapist that specializes in queer couples counseling, I help couples identify the underlying issues contributing to conflict and work toward meaningful solutions together.

My Approach to Queer Couples Therapy

My approach to queer couples therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to the unique needs of each couple. I incorporate Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help partners understand the different parts of themselves that influence emotions, reactions, and behaviors. I also utilize Intimacy From the Inside Out (IFIO), a couples-focused model that helps partners better understand one another's inner experiences.

In addition, I draw from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to support emotional regulation, communication, and conflict-resolution skills. Mindfulness techniques are also integrated throughout the therapeutic process, helping couples become more present, aware, and intentional in their interactions.
